answers to some frequently asked questions about agape

Where is Agape?

Agape is a newer church start-up and we don’t have our own building. We currently meet at the Congregational Church of Weston, 130 Newton Street, Weston, MA and at First Church in Waltham, 50 Church St. Waltham, MA. We offer zoom links to most of our services so that you can be a part of our community from wherever you are.

Please check out our calendar to view our upcoming events and which location they are at!

Where do I park?

The Weston Church has ample parking. First Church in Waltham has limited free parking on both sides of the building and a public parking lot is available one block away on the corner of Church Street and Main Street. Entrance is on Main Street.  Pay kiosks are available.

What time should I arrive?

Arriving 5-10 minutes early will give you enough time to find a parking space, be greeted by our hospitality team, and choose your seat.

What are your worship services like?

At Agape, we offer retreat-style services.  We gather together, greet one another, and do brief check-ins to see how everyone is doing.  We then meditate briefly, sing songs together as a group and share a moment with the children before they are given some exploration time with our certified Faith Formation leaders.  We then take some time for reflection and discussion on a spiritual topic, and close our time together with prayer, a song, and a blessing.  At Agape, each service experience is unique.  We seek to make each service feel like a retreat.

What should I wear?

Please wear what makes you comfortable. Our community is welcoming and informal–we host retreat-style services, so apparel that is comfortable for sitting as well as moving works well.

Will I be welcome at Agape?

The word Agape is a Greco-Christian term referring to unconditional love, “the highest form of love, charity” and “the love of God for humans and of humans for God.” Agape embraces a universal, unconditional love that transcends and persists regardless of circumstance. Within Christianity, it is understood to be the love originating from God and Jesus for humankind.

There’s nothing we can do to separate ourselves from that love. No matter who you are, or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here!
